Next, there was no exit sign so everyone walked all the way back to then entrance to only be told to walk back to the end. All of our shoe were so muddy and then when you got back on the plastic paths it was very slippery to the point it was unsafe and someone could slip and fall. There were plastic paths out in place but it didn’t cover all of the places young children and adults would want to explore to see the lights up close or to take lighted up tunnels. I do not recommend this, especially if you are a family with young children. Also, the employees couldn’t answer any of our questions about remaining wait times or where other food/drinks might be located. LuminoCity is a good idea for an attraction but they could have done a million things to make it enjoyable: timed ticket entry to avoid the giant line, put the food and hot chocolate trucks by the long line so that people could have access to warm food and drinks while they are waiting. The shuttle is a joke so we ended up bailing and taking and uber back to the city. We finally found a hot chocolate truck behind the tent and waited for a solid 15 minutes outside in the cold before we made it to the front of the line. When we finally got to the heated tent, the hot chocolate/coffee stand was closed. There’s a path made of warped uneven plastic squares. The lights were pretty but the ground was very muddy and uneven. We waited for 90 minutes and finally entered LuminoCity but we were so cold at that point, we basically ran through for about 5 minutes and then left. We had high hopes for this attraction but it was a total bust! We showed up at 5:30 PM tonight and there was already a line of hundreds of people in front of us.

Enkel testrapport, online beschikbaar, Lang, Datum: 10-07-2021 It's just a matter of how far you're going to push it. That said, the Fire HD 10 (2021) is still going to be great for the folks who are looking for a device to casually peruse the internet and read e-books and watch video. The better call, if you think you'll be irritated by slight lags in performance, is to spend an extra $30 to get the $179 Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus, arguably the best Amazon tablet ever. But you're getting slightly less battery life, and with that kind of money you could buy two Fire HD 10 (2021) slates, one for you and one a relative (so you don't have to share). If you're willing to spend more than twice as much on the $329 iPad, you get a much faster and snappier experience, a slightly brighter screen and all the apps you could ask for. As this Fire HD 10 (2021) review has shown, it has a bright and crisp display and excellent battery life (plus the ability to recharge with the same cable you may use for your laptop or phone). Enkel testrapport, online beschikbaar, Gemiddeld, Datum: 31-08-2021Ĩ0% Amazon Fire HD 10 (2021) review: Best cheap tablet with amazing battery life Bron: Tom's Guide EN→NL The Fire HD 10 is still a quite competent tablet. But if all this is about driving sales where they don't exist today, the unintended, maybe even perverse incentives each item presents may attract some people. The parts don't make the whole that Amazon intended to sell you on: that a Fire tablet is meant for work. When it comes to the bundle, I’m plainly unconvinced. You might as well use Office on something more responsive. The same thing goes with the Microsoft 365 subscription: who said you had to use it exclusively with the Fire HD 10? We're not the Fire OS Police (ha). Maybe you'll pull it from the folio and use it with something else. Maybe you'll use the wireless keyboard with it. Buy the darn Fire tablet for playing videos or reading ebooks. And with Amazon’s brand at the forefront, there are certain things I’d do here that I wouldn’t on most other tablets like read an ebook or watch Prime Video. If you aren’t familiar with Fire tablets, they can provide the same basic functionality as your smartphone on a larger screen. 65% Amazon Fire HD 10 (2021) review: A media tablet masquerading as a productivity machine Bron: Android Police EN→NL I sound like a hypocrite with the rating I just slapped down, but if you want or need what each part of the bundle provides, why the heck not? Despite this Escape’s lower-profile tires, maximum cornering grip on our skidpad measured the same 0.85 g as its 1.5-liter sibling, which is still well above average among compact crossovers. That car rode on 18-inch wheels with 235/50 Michelin Latitude Tour HP rubber our tester sported 19-inch aluminum wheels shod with 235/45 Continental ContiProContact tires. Unsurprisingly, we found the 2.0-Liter EcoBoost Escape to display the same competent road manners as the previously tested 1.5-liter EcoBoost Titanium. Shifting for yourself is an option (via steering-wheel-mounted paddles on the SE and Titanium and also by a thumb switch on the shift lever), but if compact-class thrills are your ultimate goal, Ford sells a dandy hatch called the Focus ST that will let you get your groove on wherever and whenever you wish. Only once did we catch it flat-footed and slow to react to an abrupt application of full throttle, where it missed a beat before downshifting. Programmed for smooth performance rather than split-second action, the transmission will likely never give the average buyer a second thought. Gear swaps are performed by a six-speed automatic with manual shifting capability, the sole transmission available across the lineup. With full grunt online at a relatively low 3000 rpm, the power to merge or dart for holes in traffic is never more than a pedal stomp away. In our real-world highway fuel-economy test, run at a steady 75 mph, the Escape 2.0T achieved 26 mpg, a single mpg below its EPA highway rating. For reference, that’s 5 mpg less than the 24 mpg we earned in its 264-pound-lighter doppelgänger with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine and front-wheel drive. Did we dip into its meaty, all-hands-on-deck torque more frequently than the average driver? Definitely. The Escape with the bigger EcoBoost is EPA rated at 20/27 mpg city/highway, but we could squeeze only 19 mpg from it over 500 miles, even with the standard stop/start system doing its shutdown routine. Yet Ford’s upcharge for the 2.0-liter’s extra hustle doesn’t stop at the dealer in addition to that, Ford recommends (as it does with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost) that you feed the 2.0-liter engine a steady diet of premium fuel for maximum performance-and you’ll be buying more of it. This statistical shakedown is not to whet the appetite of power-crazed suburbanites, but rather to illustrate what the $1295 price premium for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost brings to the table. In the past 20 years, the disease history and medical history research results is fruitful and has become a long-lasting subject which cannot be underestimated by the academic circles. The medical social history, disaster history, environmental history, and population history of China have also been rewritten in the name of “plague”. Research on malignant infectious diseases such as plague, cholera, leprosy, and schistosomiasis has been carried out. The outbreak of SARS in 2003 triggered the concern of Chinese scholars about the history of disease and public health. Among them, research of a Japanese scholar, Lijima ( ), which is based on the concept of infectious disease, has great influence on the domestic historiography circle. Influenced by Western historians in the 1980s, Japanese and Taiwanese scholars began to pay close attention to historical epidemics in the study of Chinese history. The investigation of epidemic diseases in the history of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) used to focus on the literature, academics, and schools, while the theory of Wen Bing ( plague), which is directly related to epidemic diseases, mainly been investigated for the thoughts of doctors and its scholarly history. Today Cantonese is most often used in day-to-day interactions and especially at home.īecause of the considerable influence of Cantonese not only in China but also abroad, it is an incredibly important asset to have in your language arsenal. It is commonly known in China as ‘the language of the youth,’ as more and more of the younger generation are turning to Cantonese due to its trendy associations as opposed to Standard Chinese. While dwarfed by Standard “Mandarin” Chinese in terms of number of speakers, Cantonese has become popular within Chinese media and pop culture, incorporating a significant body of new terminology and slang not found in the other dialect branches. Cantonese is spoken in the southern provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi, with some overflow into Hong Kong.Ĭantonese speakers are the most common Chinese migrants to be found in most countries and for this reason Cantonese remains the predominant form of Chinese spoken in the United States, Canada, Australia and countless individual Chinatowns in the cities of North America.Ĭantonese is mainly an oral language, as Standard “Mandarin” Chinese diverges significantly from Cantonese in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary and to a lesser degree, grammar, despite the fact that both are written with the same writing system. Some consider these five languages as ‘dialects,’ but linguists often classify them as dialect groups in and of themselves. Cantonese is one of the five major Chinese languages and is spoken by about 100 million people. Thread (Silk) 6 points each, 60 points total. We start by returning to the subversive potential of liminality and continue by presenting slowness, vulnerability and democratic conflict as central for our project of politics that resists geopoliticisation and warification.Ībdalla, M., Ally, M., & Jabri-Markwell, R. Given the hyper-masculine character of ‘war’ discourses, we anchor the argument, among others, also in the work based on or aligned with feminist theory-most explicitly that of Judith Butler and Chantal Mouffe. As taking these suggestions seriously may require a more profound shift in thinking about politics and society, we also sketch the contours of such broader political imagination in the second part. Adopting these three principles, we argue, would enable us to lead a more productive debate on security, as well as mitigate the adverse side-effects of the logic of war for democracy and society at large. In the first section, we directly address the HW discourse and offer three key counter-arguments, suggesting that ‘hybrid warfare’ should be dismantled, language de-weaponised and East/West thinking abandoned. This chapter concludes the argument of the book by sketching out an explicitly normative alternative to the politics of ‘hybrid warfare’, one that is driven by the desire to reclaim democratic politics from the uncompromising logic of war. The first month's interest and portion that goes toward the loan's remaining balance. The monthly interest rate is multiplied by the remaining balance to determine how much interest needs to be paid. To determine the monthly interest rate, it must be divided by 12. The 5.75% interest rate is an annual interest rate. Understanding how the interest is determinedįor each payment is not a tricky as it seems. These two amounts in each payment varies with the interest portion declining with each payment. Next you see that a portion of each payment is interest while the rest goes towards the loan's remaining balance. Monthly payment turns out to be $2,076.03 (determining the monthly payment requires a rather complex math formula). To better understand how you will pay off the loan, you create an amortization schedule. Let's say you want to purchase a $250,000 home so the bank agrees to provide with a loan at a fixed interest rate of 5.75% for 15 years. The easiest way to understand an amortization schedule is through an example using a mortgage. The distribution between principal and interest varies over time so the amortization schedule specifically illustrates the changes. Each payment is broken down in terms of how much is applied to the principal and how much is interest. The process of repaying a loan with interest to the lender is described in an amortization schedule. Click "Calculate Amortization Schedule" to view the loan payment details. For example, if you are at a meeting for work and you are representing the public relations department, a colleague may ask you to say a few words about a recent news story involving a public relations misstep of a competing company. This is also usually the case when we are asked to speak publicly with little to no advance warning. This type of conversational impromptu speaking isn’t anxiety inducing because we’re talking about our lives, experiences, or something we’re familiar with. When your roommate asks you what your plans for the weekend are, you don’t pull a few note cards out of your back pocket to prompt your response. In what situations would impromptu speaking be used? Since we’ve already started thinking of the similarities between public speaking and conversations, we can clearly see that most of our day-to-day interactions involve impromptu speaking. Try to determine three key ideas that will serve as the basis of your main points. Quickly organize your thoughts into an introduction, body, and conclusion. So when speaking impromptu, be brief, stick to what you know, and avoid rambling. We don’t always have the luxury of preparation, though. When Mark Twain famously said, “It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech,” he was jokingly pointing out the difficulties of giving a good impromptu speech, essentially saying that there is no such thing as a good impromptu speech, as good speeches take time to prepare. Otherwise, a speaker who is very familiar with the subject matter can sometimes be a competent impromptu speaker, because their expertise can compensate for the lack of research and organizing time. Only skilled public speakers with much experience are usually able to “pull off” an impromptu delivery without looking unprepared. Using some of the exercises for managing speaking anxiety that were discussed earlier in this chapter can help a speaker better manage the challenges of impromptu speaking. Although impromptu speaking arouses anxiety, it is also a good way to build public speaking skills. For this reason, impromptu speaking often evokes higher degrees of speaking anxiety than other delivery types. This means there is little time for research, audience analysis, organizing, and practice. When using impromptu delivery, a speaker has little to no time to prepare for a speech. |
